Mark Graham

Mark Graham is currently Senior Vice President of Technology for iVillage.com, an NBC Universal Company, and an Internet strategy advisor to various ventures including Tailrank.com, ISKME.org and their OER Commons project (oercommons.org). In 2004 he co-founded Rojo Networks (now part of Sixapart.com) and in 1984 he co-founded one of the first online communities for progressive social change, PeaceNet. He then went on to co-found the Institute for Global Communications (IGC.org) and the Association for Progressive Communications (APC.org). Mark is currently Chair of the Advisory Board of IGC and a member of the Executive Board and Treasurer of APC.

As an Internet innovator and entrepreneur, in the early days of the commercial Internet, Mark was responsible for building AOL's first gateway to Internet based services and managing the US side of the US-Soviet online venture Sovam Teleport. He has served as an Internet strategist to several companies including Educational Testing Service, and Scholastic. He was head of business development and technology for the WELL where he led development of WELL Engaged, the web-based interface for The WELL, and was president of Whole Earth Networks. Mark's introduction to computer-mediated communications and networks began in 1980 when he was a member of the technical staff at the Air Force Data Services Center while stationed at the Pentagon. Mark has presented and evangelized about the promise, power, and opportunities of online communities at industry conferences throughout the world and is active in the development and implementation of social media.
